Jorg de Vos (Alkmaar, 1976) is a Dutch painter who runs his studio in the picturesque center of Hoorn, North Holland. As an autodidact artist, he uses a free style in which abstract and figurative meet and overlap.
Jorg builds his paintings as richly in contrast as possible with layered transparent atmospheres combined with heavy structures. Inspired by the light-dark approach of the Baroque era, but needing his own handwriting, Jorg experiments in styles.
In the summer of 2018 he started a new collection that now consists of around 15 paintings.
A number of them are, as far as visual language is concerned, inspired by “Butoh”, originally a Japanese theater form.
